Out and About - 'Bars and Clubs'
|
Bars and Clubs - England, Greater Manchester, Manchester
We have been reliably advised by a reliable advisor, our very own Sarah Thompson, to be precise, that the AXM Bar has ceased to exist, as such. The venue is still very much alive, just under different management and a different banner, and details will be posted here as soon as they are established.

Bars and Clubs - England, Greater Manchester, Manchester
This is a modern little bar- but I always find getting up the stairs quite hard - all those mirrors. This is reputedly the place for cheap drinks. Not gay run but a welcome is extended to all on a non-discriminatory basis. Open late seven nights a week. Mixed clientele.

Bars and Clubs - England, Greater Manchester, Manchester
This tiny little basement bar is located at the junction of Canal Street and Sackville Street and the recent refit has improved upon what was a great venue - although very very small. In fact the only bar in Manchester that's smaller is the nearby Temple of Convenience on Oxford Street, and that used to be a public toilet. Down the stairs you've got a swish looking bar, seating at the back and some rather large toilet cubicles. For liquid refreshment this is one of the best stocked bars in the village, with a huge range of spirits and wines. Take a full wallet and empty stomach - the cocktails are equally good, and the only downside to visiting Bar Below is that it can fill or empty within minutes. Not really an issue, unless you have a phobia of mass people movement. Bar Below is one of the best bars in the village and the city centre to visit on saturday nights with the now established "Saturday Night Sessions" with "In Demand" DJs Mark Johnson and Ste Howarth playing a collection of vocal house music that will get keep you moving all the way through until 5am. Check out the free shots and the various cocktails they have available.

Now closed down, Bar Med was a 'party destination' in the Gay Village thanks to the cheap drinks and cheesy music. Now set to be superceeded by the 'Red Leopard', a bar-cum-club-cum-strip joint.

Bars and Clubs - England, Surrey, Croydon
The bird In Hand is a GLBT pub in a quiet location on the outskirts of Croydon, It holds various theme nights, but of interest to us is the second Saturday of each month, when it plays host to a monthly get-together of local Tgirls, starting at 8.0pm, and running till midnight. All are welcome, particularly new girls and it would be nice to see a few more faces from the past again as well. We are a very friendly and relaxed bunch and new girls, in particular, are always made to feel very welcome. There is a spacious disabled loo with good lighting and mirrors where, if you need to, you can change which the staff at the pub are completely happy about. If you have not been to a TG get together before, and perhaps feel a little nervous, you are welcome to come along in male mode for the first time. Partners, friends and family members or genuine observers who have a specific reason for wanting to attend are also welcome. However, this is not a pick up joint so please no admirers. The venue is located immediately after the hump back railway bridge on the left hand side coming from East Croydon. Parking is easy either on the pub forecourt or along the road outside.

Bars and Clubs - England, Greater Manchester, Manchester
This always has some trannys - but I'll never forget dancing the night away on the dance floor - or meeting Jay's work mates and a girl that I saw in New Look, Oxford Street (it's a small work). A really friendly pub and well worth a visit when you go to the village. One of the biggest, busiest venues in the gay Village, with entertainment seven nights a week. It has 2 bars - a smaller, quieter traditional bar and a modern bar with stage and dance area. Recently refurbished
